Through the efforts of the St. Marys Sportsmen's Club, in co-operation with the St. Marys Rotary Club, St. Marys Lions Club, N.W.T.F. Wapiti Roost Chapter, Elk County Conservation District, and Weyerhaeuser Company-Johnsonburg Mill, six local youths were privileged to attend the Penn State Conservation Leadership School, located in the Stone Valley Recreation area, just south of State College.

The core curriculum topics for 2006 were Fisheries Conservation, Our Forest Heritage, Acid Mine Drainage, and Leadership 101. The classroom includes over 700 acres of forest. fields, wetlands, and streams... where learning about the environment goes hand-in-hand with having fun, meeting new friends, and learning leadership skills.
